From triathletes to restaurant owners, SpinCar has some amazing employees in its ranks. We're introducing you to a new employee every month as part of our Employee Spotlight Series, giving you an inside look at our charismatic culture. This month, we're introducing you to Stephanie Donato, a Product Owner who is always beaming with passion and positive energy, and has one of the cutest SpinCar office dogs.
What do you do at SpinCar?
I am a product owner. I handle the product requirements for our data science, computer vision and machine learning, third-party integrations, and retargeting products. I am also an Atlassian Administrator, so I handle the administrative work for managing Confluence (internal documentation) and Jira (ticketing system).
Which core value resonates the most with you?
I have always placed extreme importance on relationships. I am a people-person at my core, and I love working with such a dynamic group of people. I take great pride in creating and maintaining relationships with coworkers, friends, family, and partners in the industry, and in return, it provides me with lots of fulfillment.
What advice do you have for others in your profession?
There are talkers and doers, be a doer.
If you are unsure, communicate. If you are sure, communicate.
Be patient, but not submissive.
What do you like to do when you’re not at the office?
I have a very active life outside of work. I spend a lot of time with my dog, my family, and friends. I am an avid music lover, concert goer, and piano player. I spend as much time as possible outside - hiking, swimming, playing frisbee, rollerblading, running, or gardening.
Your dog, Millie, is an office favorite whenever she comes in. Tell us about how she came into your life.
Millie Grace was a surprise Christmas gift! I went to Mexico for a week and while I was gone, my boyfriend and my sister went to our local rescue shelter and picked her out. She was 12 weeks old at the time, and they surprised me at the airport with her. She turned out to be a hilarious looking sausage-shaped dog, with extremely short legs and a very long torso. Quite the character.
You’re a Crossfit athlete at a local box. How does the athlete mentality translate into your day to day work at SpinCar?
This relates directly back to some of our core values - grit and energy. Crossfit is extremely challenging both physically and mentally, and truly embodies the definition of grit. It has taught me about persistence and discipline, which goes a long way at work. Working out regularly gives me more energy during my day physically, and keeps me focused by giving me an outlet. It gets me through some of the tougher days and keeps me healthy and sane.
Stephanie radiates SpinCar’s core values. She’s passionate, energetic, and creates relationships that encourage others to grow and thrive. Follow us on the SpinCar Facebook and SpinCar Instagram pages for updates, you won't want to miss next month's spotlight on Lead Software Engineer, Kurt Zikaras.
